The City
The city of Harlem was full of excitement and possibilities for African Americans. However, by moving to the "white upperclass", the African American faced many struggles - especially with racism. White families made obvious attempts to keep blacks out of their city. Real estate sellers would raise prices to ridiculous amounts, and blacks were also run out of their homes through racist acts. Although they faced many obstacles, they overcame them, and Harlem prospered into a city full of life and culture. | |||||
